The LGV C+E driving test is conducted at the DVSA large goods vehicle driving test centre with an off-road manoeuvring area.
The test lasts about 90 minutes. A HIGH standard of driving is required to pass this test.
At the start of the test you will be asked a few questions relating to the safety and loading of the vehicle.
You will be required to a complete a reversing exercise accurately and safely. The 3 things they are looking for are control, accuracy and observations. These will all be demonstrated to you by your instructor and fully explained what they are looking for.
At the driving test centre, you will be required to un-couple and recouple the trailer safely.
You will then drive on varying roads and in varying traffic conditions for about 50 minutes (minimum), this can include motorways where possible. You will also complete uphill, downhill and angled starts and an element of independent driving. You will need to demonstrate a high standard of driving throughout the test.
We use a full size automatic Artic (not wagon and drag). Providing you have passed a manual car or manual Cat C lorry licence you will gain a manual Cat C+E licence from this vehicle as well.
