The LGV category C driving test is conducted at the DVSA large goods vehicle driving test centre with an off-road manoeuvring area.
The test lasts about 1 hour (but can be up to 90 mins). A HIGH standard of driving is required to pass this test.
At the start of the test you will be asked up to 5 questions relating to the safety and loading of the vehicle.
You will be required to a complete a reversing exercise accurately and safely. The 3 things they are looking for are, Control, Accuracy and Observations. These will all be demonstrated to you by your instructor and they will fully explain what they are looking for.
You will then drive on varying roads and in varying traffic conditions for about 60 minutes (minimum), this can include motorways where possible. You will also complete uphill, downhill and angled starts and an element of independent driving. You will need to demonstrate a high standard of driving throughout the test.
